In collaboration with Active Ageing Center at Methodist Welfare Service, Aire, and Health2U, we recently hosted a workshop for seniors at the Teck Ghee Vista. Our goal was to break the stigma around incontinence, spread awareness about the condition which affects 400M people worldwide and give people the tools through exercises, diet and tips to help manage their own incontinence.
One of the biggest hurdles to overcome in the realm of pelvic health is the pervasive stigma attached to issues such as incontinence. Many individuals suffer in silence due to embarrassment or a lack of understanding. Our workshop sought to challenge this stigma head-on by creating a safe space for open dialogue and learning.
In partnership with Singapore’s leading physiotherapists Health2U, we spent the morning debunking common myths (such as curbing water intake - myth not fact) practising exercises to improve pelvic health - exercises so simple they can be done seated and understanding the role diet plays in managing incontinence! Through interactive demonstrations led by Health2U's experienced physiotherapist, attendees learned a variety of exercises tailored to enhance pelvic health.
Our workshop aimed to empower participants to take proactive steps towards better pelvic health. By fostering a supportive community and providing practical tools and resources, we're paving the way for a future where pelvic health is openly discussed and prioritised. Big thank you to Methodist Welfare for being such supportive partners!
